And so to the Black and White Ball. Arriving from the Aquarium via trolley, the TOTC crowd were welcomed by stylish hosts to the Official Opening Party of TOTC:V.
Not one, not two, not five, but FOUR cocktails were lined up for general delectation, all using Gibson’s Fine Canadian Whisky: The Dalhousie, The Pacific Maiden, Canadian Beauty and The Gibson’s Mule.
Ann Tuennerman expressed her excitement at being on tour in this fine city, an excitement reflected by all the bartenders, chefs and cocktail nerds, er, I mean fans that I spoke to.
The night was anything but monochrome, with the drinks flowing, a slice of Canadian cuisine (well, there had to be fries and poutine, didn’t there?) and several new inductees into the cult of the pickleback – virgins were rewarded with a badge for their endeavours. ‘Poutine’, by the way, I believe translates as ‘vitamin-enriched, artery-clearing super food’.
And so the partygoers dispersed into the night, my informants telling me that parties were seen at West’s, rowdily ploughing into the gourmet Indian food at Vij’s and throwing caution to the opening night wind at Diamond.
