Kara Newman (Spice & Ice) is the New York-based author of “Spice & Ice: 60 tongue-tingling cocktails” (Chronicle Books, 2009) and Spirits Reviewer for Wine Enthusiast magazine.
Avid devotees of the 1970s smash hit Three’s Company might remember this place:

If you don’t, well, that may be for the better. But it’s the Regal Beagle, the quintessential fern bar haunted by Jack, Chrissy, and, um … whatshername. At TOTC2010, San Francisco’s own Martin Cate will explicate the history of the fern bar and tell you why it’s poised to be the next big revival after the tiki renaissance. (That last part might be a fib. I’m such a kidder.)
Author, blogger, and TV star Kara Newman caught up with Martin and asked him for a rundown of his seminar, so click on through and check it out.
