Vlogging Tales…

This is the first post from Natalie Bovis-Nelsen, a writer in Los Angeles. She publishes The Liquid Muse.
I came to Tales of the Cocktail for the first time in 2007 and departed both inspired and awe-struck. I also left with 3 questions:
- How did this lady, Ann Rogers Tunnerman, grow an intimate gathering between a handful of cocktail enthusiasts into an international symposium of cocktailian interchange among 12,000 people, in only 5 years?
- How much valuable information would I retain from the seminars after sipping cocktails throughout?
- How can I get more involved in telling everyone how awesome this event is?
While I still struggle with answers to the first two questions, the response to the third will be seen in The Liquid Muse Daily Recap Webisodes featuring some highlights from seminars, parties and goings-on peppered with interviews and cocktail demos with some of the most exciting people in our industry.
Like many ambitious schemes, the idea for the daily recap webisodes sprung from a conversation in Las Vegas. No, not at the craps table. Ann and I were riding the monorail back to our hotel from the Convention Center after presenting together on a panel (along with our pal Jenny Adams) at the Nightclub & Bar show. I told Ann that I wanted to bring a video element into The Liquid Muse, and asked if it would be ok to film at Tales, this year. Long story short: Ann’s enthusiasm turned that thought into a 6-episode hosting, filming and editing extravaganza!
In addition to coverage of the Tales events, viewers will also get mixology tips and cocktailian insight from the webisode sponsors: Martin Miller’s Gin, Leblon Cachaca, Hendrick’s Gin, Partida Tequila and Plymouth Gin.
The recap from each day will be posted by 10 am the next morning on both the Tales of the Cocktail and The Liquid Muse websites, so check in daily!
If you are reading this and not in New Orleans with us, this year, the webisodes will show you what you’re missing. And, if you are here, the webisodes might jog your memory of what you did between ‘cocktail meetings’ at the Carousel Bar.
Either way, I hope you’ll join us as we “laissons les bons temps rouler.”
